The NSF Smart Maker Project will host two virtual events as part of Remake Learning Days 2021 on Friday 14th of May.
Quaker Valley and Carnegie Mellon University will host a panel discussion on a self-directed learning experiences initiative, and a research-based codesign process to develop a suite of tools aimed at fostering documentation practices and evidence gathering for a creative inquiry process. A digital documentation kit was deployed to students to gather evidence of microcredentials that could be added to transcripts.
At 3pm ET: “Maker Cards in Physical Computing Spaces”
In this session, we describe a case study of an instructional and creativity support tool developed for introductory physical computing courses moved to remote and hybrid learning settings. With the instructor, the team developed an illustrated set of maker Maker Cards—a QR-code enabled card deck of electronic parts that links to an extensive online knowledge base to help bridge access to creative know-how, visually play with system layouts, and review exemplars of prior student project documentation.
Both events are free and open to all. RSVP using the links above.
