News » 'Four CoDesign Cases of Documentation for Learning ' will be presented at Connected Learning 2021
Marti Louw, Daragh Byrne, Robert Zacharias, Amy Keller, Linda Conlon, Peter Wardrip and Talia Stol will present ‘Four CoDesign Cases of Documentation for Learning’ at the Connected Learning Symposium 2021 on July 9th
Documentation practices play an increasingly prominent role in creative educational environments such as design studios, project-based learning, and makerspaces. However, learners in these settings often struggle to document their work as part of the creative process and do not necessarily see documentation practices as intrinsically valuable for their learning or future portfolios. This symposium explores how the intentional modeling and design of tools for documentation can support reflection, noticing, articulation and critique in creative project-based teaching and learning. We present four design cases, resulting in tools developed through a codesign process with educators, to explore how documentation practices can be supported in both higher education and high school settings, and in curricular settings as varied as physical computing, maker, competency-based and self-directed learning across home and school contexts. The tools and strategies developed will be illustrated with short concept videos, and findings shared with time for discussion. Reflecting the spirit and substance of the codesign process, participating educators, researchers and student designers will be present to discuss the work and adaptations precipitated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
